Will The Future Evolution of Social Online Media and Networks Bring Forth True and Pure Democracy?

The United States is a Republic and thus it is not a True or Pure Democracy, but I would submit to you that this is a very good thing, as a pure democracy is unstable, always at the mercy of the whims of the masses, or hysteria of the most recent events and sound and fury. In fact, I fear the day when someone attempts to leverage social online networks with "instant voting" as it could very easily cause the collapse of our civilization, much like those nations which fell during the "Arab Spring" type mass protests.
